The Best All-Natural DIY Face Masks

I think we’re all aware by this point that self-care is incredibly important to health and well-being. We know it’s important to take time out of our busy schedules to look after ourselves and honor our incredible minds and bodies. And what screams “self-care” louder than face masks? Not much.
Unfortunately, professional facials are expensive and not practical for most to get on a regular basis. But many store-bought and even DIY face masks contain harmful chemicals that can negatively affect your skin. Of course, the last thing you want when you’re trying to take some time for yourself is a breakout, a skin rash, or a dose of toxins.
To make sure you can still rock your self-care ritual (read about one of mine here!) I’ve compiled a list of my favorite DIY face masks for every skin type. Each one is made with completely natural, safe-for-skin ingredients, many of which you probably already have around the house.
1.To exfoliate and reduce inflammation
Of course, I had to put a matcha face mask on the list first, but this is genuinely my go-to! It’s good for any skin type and does a great job exfoliating the skin and calming down any redness or swelling caused by inflammation.
2. To cleanse and detoxify
This one uses just three ingredients that you’re bound to have in your kitchen: oatmeal, honey, and egg whites. After rinsing this mask off, you’ll immediately notice firmer, glowing skin.
3. For oily skin
This recipe from Nadia at BodyUnburdened.com uses two different types of clay to absorb excess oil from the skin, plus apple cider vinegar to help balance your skin’s pH, which traditional face masks and cleansers tend to throw off.
4. For dry skin
If your skin is usually on the dry side, or if winter has stolen the soft, smooth skin you swear you had last fall, this is the face mask for you. It requires a few more ingredients than the others, but it’s worth it for the healthy and hydrated skin you’ll have after a few uses.
5. To brighten and firm skin
Superfood turmeric is the star ingredient of this all-natural face mask. After 20 minutes of this combination, your skin will be firm and glowing, even if you haven’t had a tan in months.
